Oberammergau Passion Play returns in 2010.

Friday, June 20th, 2008

The Oberammergau Passion Play, which elaborately recreates the story of Jesus, only takes place every ten years.

The Passion Play has been performed in the village of Oberammergau once every decade since 1634 and it commemorates the village’s survival after the plague.

From May to October 2010 the village of Oberammergau will host the 41st Passion Play, continuing the centuries long tradition by staging a unique performance featuring more that 2000 participants from the village, on a large open air stage.

The village of Oberammergau is situated in the beautiful mountains of Bavaria and is also known for its colourfully decorated buildings and for wood carving.

As this spectacle only takes place on a handful of occasions in an average adult lifetime, be sure not to miss out in 2010 as your next opportunity will not occur until 2020!
